La musique folklorique britannique résulte d’influences aussi diverses que celles de ses immigrants celtiques, nordiques ou d’Europe continentale. Typiquement acoustique et minimaliste, le folk britannique s’imprègne plus tardivement des musiques populaires du vingtième siècle, à commencer par le rock et notamment sa branche baroque de la seconde moitié des années soixante, sans forcément perdre ses racines les plus médiévales.
