Albert Ellis est l’un des fondateurs de la thérapie cognitive. Durant ses années de pratique, il a constaté que la plupart de ses patients partageaient une dizaine d’idées irrationnelles liées à des perturbations émotionnelles et des comportements problématiques. Il est aujourd’hui clairement établi qu’apprendre à critiquer ces pensées permet de diminuer la souffrance qui leur est associée.

Les sources concernant la fameuse thérapie émotivo-rationnelle d’Ellis (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) sont assez limitées sur Internet en langue française.
